Educating girls like Bao Tan & Lina to break the cycle of poverty & domestic violence in Central Vietnam

Building Brighter Futures

When women support each other, incredible things happen.

Sr Emmanuel the student.jpg

Sr Emmanuel is an excellent student, in fact her vocabulary is often better than mine! She plays symphonies on piano & sings, but her heart is broken for her sister Ly.

By Saying YES to just 1 hour a week to help her improve her English, changed the direction of my business. When Covid 19 restrictions prevented us from meeting in person, Sr Emmanuel suggested classes online & the rest is history!

StepOut.StepUp online coaching & mentoring was born.

StepOut.StepUp, Building Brighter Futures is our ‘Joint Venture’ & we hope that with the help of female entrepreneurs all over the world, we can impact the lives of less fortunate women, just like Ly.

Ly’s Story

Ly is 44, divorced & unemployed. Her home that she shares with Bao Tan & Lina is unsafe, unsanitary & uncomfortable but she is happy.

In her ‘little room’ she is free from the constant physical & mental abuse she has suffered for years. as a result of domestic violence.

Ly works hard growing, harvesting & selling fruit from her fruit trees but she scarcely earns enough to feed herself, her daughters & is panicked when she needs to take Lina to the hospital or buy her asthma drugs.

Building Ly a home.

At StepOut.StepUp, we are extending support to female entrepreneurs in the developing world, one girl, one woman at a time. Ly needs a home, a job & her girls need an education that will give them the opportunity to carve out a brighter future.

Bao Tan’s life is changed forever!

In Summer 2020 Bao Tan was 12 years old & ready to start secondary school. With no high school in her village, she would live with her Father some miles away. Bao Tan’s father is unable to provide a safe environment or take care of her properly, but the potential risks to her were outweighed by the certainty that without a secondary education, her future was bleak indeed.

The alternative - for 5 million dong per month (€200), Bao Tan could go to the city where she could attend a great school & board locally in a safe environment where the emphasis is on learning rather than survival.

Building a brigher future for Bao Tan is possible with the amazing power of women supporting women, online banking, instant global communication plus the tenacity & resilience of her mother Ly.

This little girl’s life has been transformed, just look at how amazing she is on her first day at her new school. If you would like to help more children like Bao Tan you can sign up for news of upcoming fundraising efforts.
